Today, culture is one of the most reliable tools for developing cooperation between peoples. Art, literature, cultural heritage, and national traditions unite peoples, building bridges of trust and friendship between them. Cultural diplomacy also plays an important role in Turkmenistan’s relations with UNESCO.
The inclusion of cities such as Koneurgench and Ancient Merv on the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as the inclusion of the art of bakhshi, dutar making, and kushtdepdi singing and dancing on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, familiarizes people around the world with Turkmen culture.
At international festivals, exhibitions, and cultural events held in various parts of the country, people from all over the world perform on the same stage, establishing friendly and fraternal relations through art. These events significantly contribute to strengthening peace and trust throughout the world. UNESCO’s cooperation with our country opens up vast opportunities for Turkmen youth. Students’ participation in international cultural events broadens their horizons, teaches them to respect the cultures of other countries, and build bridges of friendship between them.
In the relationship between Turkmenistan and UNESCO, culture is a force that strengthens effective ties between countries and unites the peoples of the world.
