Brothers Merdan and Shohrat Toylyyev from Turkmenistan won the international rally «Silk Way-2025», which took place on the territory of Russia and Mongolia. They achieved this success in the class of serial SUVs T2, in which only three crews participated in Nissan Patrol cars - all representatives of the automobile sports Federation of Turkmenistan.
The 15th anniversary rally-marathon «Silk Way-2025» started on 12th of July in Irkutsk. The route ran from the shores of Lake Baikal through the steppes of Mongolia and the Gobi Desert with a return to the tracks of the Altai Mountains. The ceremonial finish took place in Gorno-Altaisk.
The race included trucks, all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles, quad bikes, SUVs and other classes of vehicles. In 11 days, the participants covered 4811.6 kilometres, of which 2402.33 km were high-speed sections, where the crews had to demonstrate not only their speed, but also avoid mistakes in navigation and control of cars and motorcycles.
For the Turkmen crews, the 8th and 9th stages of the rally were a serious test. In the 8th, they decided not to compete in the sand and drove around this section, receiving a 29-hour penalty. And in the 9th, Maksatmyrat Danatarov, who dominated the serial SUV category, was unable to overcome a special section of 276.66 km and received a large penalty of 21 hours. As a result, M. Danatarov lost the lead and yielded the first line to Merdan Toylyyev.
In this way, at the award ceremony, pilot Merdan Toylyyev and navigator Shohrat Toylyyev climbed to the top step of the podium, finishing with a time of 61 hours 29 minutes and 24 seconds. For them, this victory was already the second in the prestigious marathon after the triumph in 2022. Meylis Abdullayev (pilot) and Italmaz Charyyev (navigator), who took second place, lost to their compatriots by 6 hours 58 minutes and 18 seconds. Maksatmyrat Danatarov (pilot) and Didar Orazmedov (navigator), who rounded out the top three, were 106 hours 49 minutes and 1 second behind the winners.
The «Silk Way» International Rally project dates back to 2009, uniting not only regions of the Russian Federation but also Eurasian countries over the years. In different years, the race took place on the territory of such countries as Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Turkmenistan.
Let us remind that the route of the first edition of the rally started in Kazan, passed through Kazakhstan and finished in Ashgabat.
