The heart of the Great Silk Road — our beloved turkmen land — has been a place of short and safe transit of passengers and cargo for centuries and millennia.
The favourable geographical position of our country opens up great opportunities for the creation of a developed, competitive transport and logistics system at the international and regional levels. At present, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, international multimodal logistics projects using sea, road, railway, air and pipeline transport are being implemented on a large scale in our country.
The total area of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, built and commissioned on 2 May 2018, is about 156 hectares. This large modern facility, which consists of 8 sections, includes such major structures as a general infrastructure works section, a shipbuilding and repair plant, cargo and passenger terminal, container terminal, general cargo terminal, bulk cargo terminal, railway ferry terminal and polypropylene terminal. The total length of the port's berths is 1800 metres. The port is capable of simultaneously servicing 17 vessels.
Throughput capacity of the port is 300 thousand passengers and 75 thousand lorries per year. Cargo turnover excluding oil products is 17 million tons.
In the current era of rapidly growing international cargo and passenger traffic, the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, domestic and transit traffic widely contribute to the peaceful, harmonious and coherent development of the countries, peoples and states of the region.
