In an era when great attention is devoted to our national values, one of the treasures of the turkmen people that elevates our nation and showcases our heritage to the world is the alabay dog. The turkmen alabay, our loyal guardian, is one of the oldest dog breeds and is now recognized as one of the most famous breeds worldwide.
Known for their impressive appearance, endurance, calm temperament, courage, and steadfast character, our alabays are not only faithful companions and true friends but also reliable protectors. This is also reflected in the wise legends passed down by our ancestors.
Preserving the purity of the alabay breed, which has become a symbol of national pride, and advancing selective breeding are important aspects of the comprehensive work carried out in our state. The establishment of the International association of «Türkmen alabaý itleri» and the opening of alabay breeding centers in the velayats of our country and in Ashgabat clearly demonstrate these efforts.
In different corners of the country, magnificent statues of the turkmen alabay have been constructed, and the last Sunday of October is annually celebrated as Turkmen alabay day.
