On October 22–23, 2025, the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters in Geneva hosted a high-level forum, "The CAREC Region and the Multilateral Trading System: Deepening Integration in Central Asia and Beyond," organized by the WTO jointly with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy B. Yalakov, participated in the event.
In his speech, B. Yalakov emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's gradual integration into the multilateral trading system, noting the priority of harmonizing national legislation with WTO norms and strengthening regional cooperation to expand trade and economic ties.
As part of the forum, the Turkmen delegation met with the leadership of the World Trade Organization, discussing Turkmenistan's current steps toward WTO accession, sharing experiences with member states, and opportunities for technical and advisory support from international partners.
Turkmenistan's participation in this forum was an important step toward strengthening cooperation with the WTO, developing the country's foreign economic potential, and advancing its interests within regional and global economic processes.
