In the rich history of our people, which spans thousands of years, mentorship has traditionally played a special role. The word “mentor” means not only a teacher, but also a person who passes on life experience, talent, and moral guidance to the younger generation. A mentor is a source of wisdom for the people, a role model who combines education with upbringing.
Mentors play an enormous role in Turkmen society. They help young people discover their talents, develop their abilities and guide them along the right professional path. Every profession has its own challenges and to master it fully, one must learn from a mentor. The experience of a mentor serves as a compass for the student. The mentor–student principle is widely praised in Turkmen folklore and literature, where the importance of receiving advice and instruction from mentors, following their guidance and mastering the secrets of one’s craft is often described. Talented youth are shaped through mentorship in the arts of bakshi (folk musicians), jewelry making, carpet weaving, music, and even agriculture. This ancient principle lies at the heart of the spiritual values of the Turkmen people.
In the era of Revival of a new epoch of a powerful state, the dignity of mentors continues to flourish. Under the leadership of our Esteemed President, with the support of mentors in education, art, science and sports, wide opportunities are being created for young people to achieve excellence. Mentors nurture the younger generation in a spirit of devotion, diligence, and creativity. High moral values such as honesty, justice, and compassion find a place in the hearts of their students. Therefore, mentorship remains an integral part of the spiritual heritage of our people.
