NATIONAL "AK BUGDAY" MUSEUM

The National “Ak Bugday” museum of Turkmenistan is located in a beautiful area of the city of Anew in Ahal velayat. It is considered the only museum in the world dedicated to white wheat, and it attracts visitors with its impressive architectural design.

This museum, which was opened and put into use in 2005, consists of several exhibition sections. On the first and second floors of the building, there are exhibition halls dedicated to archaeology, agriculture and farming, ethnography, and Independence. More than three thousand historical exhibits are preserved in these sections. One of the museum’s most valuable exhibits are white wheat grains that were cultivated five thousand years ago, discovered during excavations of the ancient Anew mounds. These grains were found as a result of archaeological research conducted in 1903–1904 by the American scientist Raphael Pumpelly, who led the first foreign archaeological expedition in Turkmenistan, conducting excavations in Anew and Mary regions.

Visitors from different parts of Turkmenistan, as well as from abroad, come to see the museum. The ancient agricultural culture of the Turkmen people and the rich heritage of our ancestors leave a lasting impression on all who visit.
