OUR NATIONAL HERITAGE — SPIRITUAL WEALTH

The great art and unique cultural heritage created by our people over the millennia is widely recognized throughout the world. In our country important work is being done to preserve national values and crafts, and great efforts are being made to pass them on to future generations in their original form.

One of the most ancient among the exquisite crafts of the Turkmen people is the art of embroidery, which was developed and perfected by Turkmen women. The products characterised by elegance and charm resemble unique works of art. Each of its patterns praises the beauty of the nature of our country. Embroidery gives incomparable beauty to national costumes. The inclusion of the Turkmen art of embroidery in the UNESCO List of Outstanding Examples of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity testifies to the fact that the beauty and value of this art is given great importance all over the world.

The deep patriotic feeling and all the love of Turkmen women for the Motherland, for our beautiful nature were put into embroidery. To this day, without losing its value, this art is passed on from generation to generation. Today, embroidery is done in various ways, using coloured silk. The types of embroidery are enriched with new samples. They are decorated with beautiful beads and coins sparkling in the sun. That is why the importance of this exquisite art, symbolising beauty, never fades. The popularity of our national costumes grows every year.
