CULTURAL HERITAGE — A SOURCE OF PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP

Cultural heritage represents the collection of spiritual, artistic, and historical values accumulated by humankind over centuries. It not only reflects the past but also serves as a foundation for development, peace, and friendship among nations. Cultural heritage acts as a bridge connecting generations and uniting humanity through shared values.

Our country has a consistent policy of preserving, studying and promoting its rich cultural heritage. Many of the country’s historical and cultural monuments - such as Köneürgench, Merv, and Nisa — are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, confirming their outstanding universal value. In addition, Turkmenistan’s intangible cultural treasures — Turkmen carpet weaving, bakhshi art, the epic “Gorogly”, Nowruz celebration — have been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

These achievements not only highlight the richness of Turkmen culture but also promote dialogue, mutual understanding, and friendship among nations. Turkmen culture serves as a bridge for international cooperation and neighborly relations. Every nation contributes its unique traditions, art, and experience to world culture, enriching the common heritage of humanity. Preserving and promoting cultural heritage fosters mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation between countries.

Cultural heritage unites peoples across different countries through unique languages, music, crafts, architecture, and folklore. Developing cultural ties between peoples is the most effective way to build a peaceful society.
