Lemon is a citrus fruit rich in vitamin C. Its homeland is considered to be India, China and the Pacific tropical islands, and lemons were mentioned in history only in the 12th century. At the same time, the Arabs brought lemons to the Middle East, North Africa, Spain and Italy.
Fruits are divided into 2 groups, there are tree-like and bush-like.
Lemon consists almost entirely of water and contains many substances that are useful for the human body. It contains up to 0.085% ascorbic acid, vitamins A, E, D, P and B. In addition, it contains iron, copper, potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, zinc, boron, flavonoids, phytoncides, glycosides and pectin.
Two tablespoons of lemon juice contain half of the daily requirement of vitamin C, which in turn strengthens the immune system, protects the body from various viruses and bacteria, accelerates wound healing, slows down aging, cleanses the body of toxins, participates in the synthesis of hormones and reduces blood pressure. Lemon also relieves fatigue and insomnia, fights nausea and replenishes the deficiency of vitamins and minerals.
Lemon peel contains essential oils, dietary fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, sodium, copper, selenium, vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamins A and E. Its rich compound improves the condition of the heart, bones and is also useful for the oral cavity and digestive system. The famous medieval doctor Avicenna also noted that lemon is the best medicine for heart disease.
Lemon juice mixed with warm water is useful for sore throats, bronchial asthma and coughs.
Lemon-based skin care products rejuvenate the skin and fill it with vitamins.
If lemons are not exposed to sunlight, they can be stored at room temperature for up to two weeks. They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two months, it is best to place lemons together with vegetables and fruits.
