The pomegranate occupies a special place among the fruits growing in the sunny climate of Turkmenistan. This fruit is distinguished not only by its taste but also by its health benefits. Pomegranate is a plant adapted to warm climates, and its fruits ripen in the fall. Each pomegranate contains hundreds of seeds. Therefore, the pomegranate is also known as a symbol of abundance, fertility and unity.
The benefits of the pomegranate, its fruits, and flowers are described in detail in the multi-volume scientific-encyclopedic work by our Hero-Arkadag, “Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan”. Pomegranate contains various vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It contains vitamins A, C, and E, as well as important substances such as iron, calcium, and phosphorus. Therefore, pomegranate juice helps to increase energy, improve blood circulation, and protect the cardiovascular system.
The antioxidants contained in this fruit also have significant benefits for preventing the accumulation of harmful radicals in the body, the development of heart disease, and anemia.
Growing pomegranates in Turkmenistan has become a centuries-old tradition. Different varieties of pomegranates are grown in different parts of the country. Pomegranates grown in the Magtymguly and Etrek etraps of the Balkan velayat have a distinctive sweetness.
The pomegranate is the sunny fruit of the Turkmen land; each of its seeds is a source of health.
