A significant event of 2025 – the «International Year of Peace and Trust», marked by the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, will be the session of the Halk Maslahaty, which will be held on the 19th of September in Ashgabat. The national forum will be held on the eve of the celebration of the 34th anniversary of the country's independence, embodying a commitment to centuries-old national values, including resolving fateful issues for the Motherland together.
In January 2023, the highest representative body of people's power – the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) – was created in Turkmenistan. Its main tasks are to adopt the Constitution and laws, amend them, and determine the country's domestic and foreign policy.
The multifunctionality of the Halk Maslahaty is based on the principles of democracy, openness, justice and the rule of law. It takes into account international legal norms, equality of citizens and respect for human rights.
Economy and welfare
Turkmenistan's economy is growing steadily, which leads to an improvement in the social and living conditions of the population. The GDP growth rate is steadily holding at 6.3%, which indicates the success of the reforms. The country is also actively working to improve the efficiency of investment policy. Thanks to this, regional and national projects are being successfully implemented, strengthening the economic potential of the regions.
The state is implementing comprehensive measures to improve the well-being of citizens, creating new jobs and providing social protection. Active construction of modern cities and villages continues.
Reforms in the banking sector and measures to maintain the national currency rate have ensured the stability of money circulation and economic growth, which is observed throughout the country.
Neutrality and international cooperation
The year 2025 has been declared by the UN General Assembly as the «International Year of Peace and Trust», which coincides with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. This status is an important doctrine that contributes to strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding at the global level. Neutrality contributes to strengthening foreign policy harmony and inspires the Turkmen people to new achievements in the name of a brighter future.
It should be noted that the annual Investment Forum of Turkmenistan contributes to the expansion of economic ties with the world community. This dialogue platform allows for the establishment of new business contacts and the presentation of the country's extensive investment potential.
Legislation and reforms
The Mejlis of Turkmenistan (Parliament) effectively works to protect the legitimate interests of citizens and provides a legislative basis for economic reforms. The legislative framework aimed at improving people's lives is constantly being improved. The adoption of new laws and the modernisation of existing ones is one of the urgent, consistently implemented tasks.
Large-scale reforms carried out in the country require diligence and dedication from every citizen. Taking into account responsibility to the Motherland, the activities of the highest authorities are also being improved.
Representatives of all segments of the population take part in the meetings of the Halk Maslahaty: from young people to elders, respected mothers, which corresponds to the original traditions of democracy. Over the years of its activity, the Halk Maslahaty has proven its effectiveness, high significance and timeliness in making important decisions that are successfully implemented.
The grandiose transformations in the country and the sustainable prosperity of the beloved Motherland are ensured thanks to the tireless work of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who successfully continues the initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero Arkadag.
