In August 2025, as a part of Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC-3), commenced in the “Awaza” National Tourist Zone .was held Women’s Forum, highlighting the important role of women in sustainable development.
The Forum focused on strengthening the contribution of women to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The forum focused on important areas of women’s lives in developing countries, including better economic opportunities, improved access to education and healthcare, and greater involvement in public life and decision-making.
The Forum brought together representatives of international organizations, government bodies, national parliaments, the private sector, civil society organizations, and young women leaders. Participants shared their experiences in implementing national gender equality policies, successful projects, and mechanisms aimed at supporting and empowering women.
Hosting the event in Avaza demonstrated Turkmenistan’s strong commitment to international cooperation, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the advancement of gender equality. Today, Avaza is recognized as a key venue for major international events.
The Women’s Forum represented an important step in reinforcing efforts to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women in landlocked developing countries. It contributed to expanding women’s participation in economic and public life and served as a vital platform for promoting gender equality and sustainable development.
