PUMPKIN — A REMEDY FOR AILMENTS

The fertile soil of our Homeland is rich in medicinal plants. One of the widely cultivated plants across the country is the pumpkin. Pumpkin is an annual plant that blooms in June–July, with its fruits ripening in August. Its native regions are considered to be Mexico, North, and South America.

Pumpkin is a beneficial vegetable, often used to treat gastrointestinal colds.

Pumpkin seeds are also very good for human health. They are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, plant-based proteins, and vitamin E. There are approximately 20 varieties of pumpkin, and scientists note that humans began cultivating it around 5,000 years ago.

The juice found in pumpkin is helpful for ensuring normal and restful sleep. It also contains a high amount of iron, making it recommended for individuals suffering from anemia. Boiled or baked pumpkin is widely used in children’s food.

Pumpkin contains the rare vitamin T, which helps stabilize blood composition and prevent bleeding gums.

In ancient times, various medicinal remedies were prepared from this product. Apart from Antarctica, pumpkin is cultivated all over the world.
