The art of embroidery of the turkmen people reminds us of the beauty of our beloved Motherland, the warmth of the hearth, the eyes of our mothers looking at us with boundless love, and the gentle smiles of our girls. The elegance of our talented women’s handicrafts warms the heart. Everyone who sees them wants to admire them without tearing himself away. Embroidery is the main decoration and an integral part of our national and modern costumes.
The variety of patterns resembling the turkmen steppe covered with flowers and buds is a wonderful fruit of the hard work that our embroiderers put into each work. The art of embroidery does not lose its popularity and in modern conditions. If the products created by them are modern and not repeated by others, it shows the level of skill of our embroiderers. The fact that each pattern, each stitch is unique and not similar to others, creates conditions for a wider spread of this art. The number of young people who want to master it and wear clothes decorated with embroidery is increasing.
In the present glorious era, thanks to the efforts of the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, a huge work is being carried out to preserve, enrich and popularise in the world the cultural and spiritual heritage of our people. In this direction, our country is actively cooperating with UNESCO, one of the most authoritative international organizations in the world. As is known, at the 17th session of the UNESCO Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Rabat (Kingdom of Morocco), the turkmen art of embroidery was included in the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the nomination of our country "The Art of Turkmen Embroidery".
