Recently, an excursion under the motto “Spiritual tribute to the sons of the nation” was organized at the Memorial Complex “Halk hakydasy” in Ashgabat. The event was held jointly with the Ashgabat city and etraps Councils of the Youth organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly, with the participation of young specialists, students, and schoolchildren.
The participants honored the memory of the valiant heroes who gave their lives in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 by laying flowers at the monument. They then visited the “Ruhy Tagzym” memorial, dedicated to the victims of the devastating earthquake that happened in Ashgabat on the night of October 5–6, 1948, when within just 1 hour and 12 minutes the flourishing city and its surrounding areas were destroyed to ruins. The participants also laid flowers at the “Milletiň ogullary” memorial, established in memory of the heroes who fought bravely in the Battle of Gokdepe. In addition, they visited the “Watan mukaddesligi” museum, where they became acquainted with exhibits and models reflecting the tragic pages of history and gained deeper knowledge about those events.
Every year, on October 6, the Day of Remembrance, a flower-laying ceremony is held at the “Halk hakydasy” complex. Although 80 years have passed since those events, this painful loss remains alive in the memory of our people. On this day, citizens offer sadaqa, recite ayats and towur, and pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the peace and tranquility of our Motherland.
The participants of the event expressed their sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and Esteemed President Arkadagly Hero Serdar for creating broad opportunities to honor and perpetuate the memory of the heroes of our Homeland.
