THE TURKMEN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HELD A BIOLOGY OLYMPIAD IN HONOUR OF THE COUNTRY'S INDEPENDENCE DAY

The State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after Myrat Garryyev held the finals and awards ceremony for the winners of the Biology Olympiad for high school students, timed to coincide with Turkmenistan's Independence Day.

Second place was shared between Aylar Esenova, an 11th-grade student from Secondary Specialised School № 20 in Balkanabat, Balkan Velayat, and Guljahan Atamyradova, an 11th-grade student from Secondary Specialised School № 15 in Babadayhan Etrap, Ahal Velayat.

During the awards ceremony, the winners received diplomas of their respective degrees and commemorative gifts. Distinguished Olympiad participants who demonstrated outstanding results in the competition were awarded certificates of honour and prizes.

As part of the Olympiad's final round program, schoolchildren from all over the country were treated to fascinating city walks and educational cultural excursions to Ashgabat's landmarks.

Furthermore, the finalists—high school students with a particular interest in biology and medicine in general—had the wonderful opportunity to learn about Ashgabat's Medical University, the country's leading training ground for highly qualified medical personnel. Potential applicants visited modern classrooms, research laboratories, and university departments, which offer the best conditions for obtaining a high-quality education, excelling in their studies, and successfully mastering their future profession.

As university representatives emphasised, the Olympiad and all its accompanying events were highly organised and contributed to strengthening cooperation between secondary schools and higher education institutions across the country. Most importantly, the competition helped identify the most talented schoolchildren, improve their knowledge of the natural sciences, stimulate and encourage interest in their study, enhance the personal potential of young people, and help them make informed career choices—a crucial component in training highly qualified doctors and specialists for our country.
