Three silver and three bronze medals were won by judokas from Turkmenistan at the Asian Junior Cup that ended in Almaty.
On the first day of the competition, our compatriots won three medals. The silver medal was awarded to the athlete of the Judo Federation of Turkmenistan Medine Oraznyyazova, and the bronze medals were awarded to the 11th grade student of Secondary School №20 of the Koytendag etrap of the Lebap velayat Nuriya Pardayeva and the 20-year-old first-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction Kurbanay Kurbanova.
Medine Oraznyyazova achieved silver success in the weight category up to 57 kg, which brought together 21 judokas from 5 countries. In the first two matches, she won by ippon against representatives of Kazakhstan Marjan Kalmen and Botagoz Adilhanova, and in the semi-finals she was stronger than Gulbahor Imomnazarova (Uzbekistan). In the final, Medine lost to another Uzbek athlete, Muhinor Allaberganova, and was content with second place. This success of her student is shared by M. Oraznyyazova's first coach, Violetta Krovyakova, and her current mentors, Gulbadam Babamuratova and Tatyana Vidyasova.
Nuriya Pardayeva and Kurbanay Kurbanova became bronze medalists in the weight category up to 48 kg, in which 26 judokas from 5 countries competed for medals. On the way to the podium, both of our athletes won four victories.
In the first three fights, Nuriya won against her opponents from Kazakhstan - Zere Otepkali, Ayaulym Turdike and Samal Imanaliyeva. In the semi-finals, she met with another representative of Kazakhstan - Ingkar Kuralbay, to whom she lost, and in the fight for 3rd place, she defeated Dilruh Hasanova from Uzbekistan and won the bronze medal.
It is noteworthy that two years ago, at the Asian Cup among cadets in Tashkent, Nuria Pardayeva was awarded a silver medal. And now she has achieved bronze success in an older age category - among juniors. She began to practice judo with Jora Matnazarova, and is currently improving her skills in the national team of Turkmenistan with Gulbadam Babamuratova and Tatyana Vidyasova.
Kurbanay, in turn, completed all her victorious matches with ippon. In the first three, she won against Ayjan Eshimbekova (Kyrgyzstan), Marjon Dausheva (Kazakhstan) and Dilruh Hasanova (Uzbekistan), respectively, then in a tough semi-final fight in extra time she lost to Mahfira Ruziboyeva (Uzbekistan) due to a throw on «waza-ari», and in the fight for bronze she won with «ippon» against Ayzat Naukenova (Kazakhstan) and rose to the third step of the podium.
Kurbanay Kurbanova took her first steps in judo in Lebap under the guidance of the famous athlete of the past Nasiba Khallyeva, and is currently training with the national team under experienced mentors Gulbadam Babamuratova and Tatyana Vidyasova.
On the second day of the Asian Cup among juniors, Turkmen judokas won two more silver and one bronze medal. The second step of the podium was taken by 20-year-old second-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction Agajan Ayhanov and 20-year-old second-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Baymyrat Majanov, and the third step was taken by 11th-grade student of Secondary School № 61 of the Charjev etrap of the Lebap velayat Oguljan Ruslanova.
Agajan Ayhanov won silver in the 81 kg weight category, where 31 judokas from 6 countries competed for medals. In the first four fights, he won clean victories: first over Samir Ospan and in 11 seconds over Arhat Otegen from Kazakhstan, and then over Arslonbek Kodirov and Ulmas Fatilloyev from Uzbekistan. In the final, Agajan lost to Uzbek athlete Asrorbek Tulaganov and had to settle for second place.
Baymyrat Majanov achieved the same success in the 100 kg weight category, where 14 judokas from 4 countries competed for medals. On the way to the podium, he defeated Bauyrjan Koyshybay, Kassiet Karkyn (both from Kazakhstan), and in extra time over Jonibek Pardayev (Uzbekistan) and only lost to Yerasyl Nurtaza (Kazakhstan) in the final.
This is not B. Majanov's first medal at international competitions. In 2023, he won silver at the Junior European Cup in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). And now he has achieved the same success at the Asian Junior Cup.
Agajan Ayhanov began practicing judo with Rejepbay Ashyrov, and Baymyrat Majanov with Shanazar Berdiyev. Currently, both judokas are improving their skills in the Turkmenistan national team under the guidance of Yhlas Setdarov.
Oguljan Ruslanova won the bronze medal in the 70 kg weight category, in which 17 athletes from 5 countries competed for the Asian Cup. In the first two matches, Oguljan defeated Akbota Kydyrali (Kazakhstan) and Tuygul Hamroyeva (Uzbekistan). In the semi-finals, she lost to the winner of this tournament, Korkem Orymbek from Kazakhstan, and in the fight for bronze, she won by «ippon» against her compatriot Jennet Hasanova, who ultimately took fifth place.
This is the third medal of the 16-year-old talented judoka from Lebap at international competitions. This spring, Oguljan Ruslanova won bronze medals at the Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025 in Germany and Azerbaijan. At the Asian Cup among cadets in Almaty, she took 5th place, and now in an older age category - among juniors - she has won bronze.
O. Ruslanova has been practicing judo since she was 10 years old. She learned the basics of this Olympic sport from Ayna Zaripova. Currently, she trains in the national team of Turkmenistan under the guidance of Gulbadam Babamuratova and Tatyana Vidyasova.
In this way, following the results of the 2025 Asian Cup among cadets and juniors, the Turkmenistan team won 7 medals - 3 silver and 4 bronze. Earlier, a 10th-grade student of Ashgabat Secondary School № 37, Kakilik Deryayeva, achieved bronze success in the cadet tournament in the weight category up to 48 kg.
The Asian Judo Cup among cadets and juniors held in Almaty brought together 785 athletes from 11 countries - Azerbaijan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Russia (competed under the IJF flag), the USA, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Our team was represented at these competitions by 31 judokas.
