On July 23, 2025, a conference was held in the building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus dedicated to the proclamation of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust”, as well as to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. The event was attended by heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Turkmen students studying at universities in the Republic of Belarus, as well as employees of the Embassy.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus Nazarguly Shagulyev emphasized that over the past time, Turkmenistan’s neutrality has become not only the cornerstone of the country’s national identity and sovereignty, but also an effective tool for developing regional dialogue, strengthening stability and security in Central Asia and beyond.
UN Special Coordinator in the Republic of Belarus Rasul Bagirov, assessing the contribution of Turkmenistan as a neutral state to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasized the unique role of the policy of neutrality in promoting a culture of peace and trust at the global level.
In his speech, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS N. Seitimov emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan’s Neutral Status for strengthening stability and integration processes in the CIS space.
As part of the cultural program of the conference, videos were shown, songs were performed in the Turkmen language, and a photo exhibition was organized.
