The President of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Yuriy Polskiy, who visited Turkmenistan on a short visit last year, highly praised the work of the national Tennis Federation. According to him, an example of this is the good result that the boys' team of Turkmenistan showed at the 2023 Central Asian Championship under 12 years old. At the past competition, they beat the national team of Uzbekistan for the first time and reached the final stage for the first time, which took place in Astana. And this year, team of the girls achieved the same success at the Central Asian Championship in Fergana, winning the right to compete for the first time in the Asian Team Championship U12, which will be held in Singapore.
Recently, a 10th -grade student of Ashgabat Specialised Secondary School № 42, Ilima Guseyinova, reached the semi-finals of the preliminary round of the junior qualifying tournament Roland Garros among tennis players under 16 years of age from Western and Central Asian countries, which took place in Almaty.
And now young tennis players from Turkmenistan have achieved another success, this time at international competitions in Thailand.
