The dutar, as a musical instrument, has taken its honorable place among the spiritual treasures of our nation. With its gentle and enchanting sound, it brings light to the human soul, while the noble traditions of great masters such as Babagammar and Ashyk Aydın Pir have been passed down from generation to generation, and today shine forth in a renewed form. The ancient land of Dashoguz has long been the cradle of bakhshi and dutar musicians. It is here that this delicate art has been preserved and perfected over the centuries, thanks to the tireless dedication of masters who devoted their lives to elevating it to contemporary heights. The deep respect of our people for music and the spoken word has steadily grown throughout history. The inclusion of “Dutar making craftsmanship and traditional music performing art combined with singing” in UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity stands as clear evidence of the great honor and recognition bestowed upon our eternal art and culture on the global stage.
