TURKMENISTAN — UNESCO: A BRIGHT FUTURE OF CO-OPERATION

The successes achieved by Independent, permanently Neutral Turkmenistan in international relations, politics, economy, transport and communications and other areas are an example for the whole world. Our country's large-scale international cooperation, active participation in economically significant projects in the region, establishment of effective ties with the countries of the world and authoritative international organisations, accumulation of world experience have given a powerful impetus to the development and transformation of our beloved Motherland.

Today Turkmenistan cooperates effectively with many authoritative international and regional organisations. Our country supports humanitarian programmes and projects implemented by the United Nations, the European Union, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States and other international organizations.

Active co-operation with UNESCO – the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, is of particular importance. Within the framework of cooperation with this organisation, a great deal of work is being carried out in the fields of education, science and culture. Our country also makes a significant contribution to UNESCO's work in the preservation and restoration of cultural monuments and natural landscapes. The fact that this organisation, which fulfils such important tasks as respect for human values and achievements and  their protection from various influences, has identified and registered more than 1,000 monuments of historical and cultural significance in our country, shows that the co-operation will continue to develop actively in the future.
